Designer Spotlight: Simply Dwell

 ABOUT STACEY GAGNON HALIL

Who am I?

I’m a tireless Pinterest Pinner. I’m obsessed with beautiful and functional designs. I’m an optimist and dreamer, ideally a source of insight, and coincidentally a Designer.

Following my graduation from Sheridan College's Interior Design Program in 2002, I focused on designing kitchens, bathrooms, and custom millwork.

It wasn’t until the chaos of the pandemic in 2020 that I established Simply Dwell. It proved to be a serendipitous decision - despite the circumstances - as it enabled me to home-school my daughter while working from home and still do what I love. Looking back, it was undoubtedly the best decision I could have made.

How can I help?

Throughout my career, I have built long-standing, trusted relationships with a select group of trades, contractors and local craftsmen who've garnered outstanding expertise in their fields, including tile, hardwood flooring, electrical, and more. I have aligned myself with a few of the best cabinetry manufacturers in the area, giving me a great sense of local pride. My goal is to save you stress and time. You can expect a direct, hands-on approach. I evaluate your needs effectively, help steer the course, and advise on the right products, services, and trades for smoother renovations and beautiful results.

Kitchen Design Story

This transformative design journey began when Stacey met with a family of three. They needed a kitchen that reflected their passion for cooking, more space which did not compromise functionality and style, and of course, had uncompromised quality. She worked with the family closely to organize their ideas and create a design that checked all their boxes. They met in person on several occasions and even shopped together to get all the details exactly right.

Stacey's clients wanted the appliances for both form and function.  They needed appliances to perform beyond expectations.  As a family of 3, who cooks 3 meals a day in this kitchen, they needed appliances to make quick and easy work of their tasks and liked the idea of a slight industrial feel.

The homeowners were beyond thrilled with the process, that also included other companies such as Menno S Martin, Heirlooms Cabinetry, and TA Appliances and Barbecues.  Outstanding service was provided from all the partners on this project.

The heart of this new kitchen includes double wall ovens for multi-temp cooking, induction cooktop, hood insert, and a 42” built-in side-by-side refrigerator.

TA Sales Associate Terry Beingessner worked closely with the clients & Stacey to choose this  Fulgor Milano Convection Wall oven and A Combi Speed oven, giving the illusion of a double wall oven.

This is perfect for families with younger children with their cool touch door, protecting you from high temperatures while cooking and during the self-clean mode. The A Combi Speed oven was an added convenience for the family with fast cooking, and versatility with its different cooking modes of microwave, convection broil and roast, and bake settings.

The Sofia Pro Range Top by Fulgor Milano was carefully selected for its exceptional performance, style, and innovation. With its induction technology and power boost function, this family can whip up a meal in record time – not to mention this range top is gorgeous!

The family opted for a Kitchen Aid 42” built-in side-by-side refrigerator. Not only does it look sleek and elegant, it comes with innovative storage options inside and an exterior water and ice maker. However, the Wood-Look Pull Out Tray is a key feature of this fridge, keeping ingredients organized and including children involved in the kitchen by helping store and gather food.

An extra workspace was created with open lower shelving creating openness while allowing you to display decorative items or frequently used dishware.

This design included a farmhouse sink that is both deep and spacious making it ideal for washing large pots and pans

Despite removing some cabinetry and adding more counter space, leaving it clutter-free and inviting, Stacey gave the family more storage solutions, so every pot, pan, small appliance, and ingredient had its own home. An extra workspace was created with open lower shelving allowing you to display decorative items or frequently used dishware.

The Falmec pro hood insert inside this stunning custom wood cover made of reclaimed Elm has LED lighting and a powerful yet quiet motor

The homeowners were beyond thrilled with Stacey's communication, process, and design. They were also pleased with the quality of materials from Menno S Martin and Heirlooms Cabinetry and appliances from TA Appliances and Barbecues.
